2 Day Cairo Tour by Plane from Hurghada Overview:
- Day 1: Saqqara, Dahshur and Giza Plateau
We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and transfer you to Hurghada Airport for your flight to Cairo, which takes about an hour. Upon arrival, your Egyptologist guide will be waiting for you outside the terminal to begin your two-day Cairo tour. The first stop is Sakkara, located approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the city.
There, you will see the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, an important example of early pyramid architecture. Next, we will drive about 10 kilometers south to Dahshur, where Pharaoh Snefru built the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. These structures represent an important shift from stepped designs to smooth-sided pyramids. After this visit, you will have the chance to enjoy a traditional Egyptian lunch at a nearby restaurant.
In the afternoon, we will continue to the Giza Plateau, where you will get an up-close view of the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus. During the visit, we will explore the Valley Temple, which was used for Pharaoh Chephren’s embalming ceremonies, and see the Sphinx, known for its lion’s body and human face. Once the day’s tours are complete, we will take you to your hotel located near the Pyramids.
- Day 2: Cairo Museum and Old Cairo
After breakfast and checking out, we will visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, a new attraction in Cairo. It houses an extensive collection of artifacts related to the pharaohs, including the complete treasures of Tutankhamun, such as his gold mask, sarcophagi, throne, and other notable items.
Following that, lunch will be served at a restaurant offering views of the Nile. Afterwards, we’ll explore the Coptic Quarter to visit the Hanging Church, also known as Al-Muʿallaqa, which stands atop the former Babylon Fortress. Inside the church, you can see impressive icons depicting scenes like the Nativity, John the Baptist, archangels, and the Twelve Apostles.
Our final stop for the day is the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of Cairo’s oldest markets, known for its lively atmosphere. We will stroll along El-Moez Street, which resembles an open-air museum featuring Islamic architecture and shops selling items made from copper, brass, leather, silver, gold, as well as local handicrafts.
At the end of the second day, we will ensure your transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight back to Hurghada.
