Full Itinerary - 2 Day Tour from Cairo to Mount Sinai, St Catherine Monastery (Suez Canal):
Experience a two-day trip from Cairo to Mount Sinai and Suez. This journey includes a visit to the Suez Canal, where you can see it from the canal bank.
A private pickup from your Cairo hotel at 6:00 AM begins the journey. You will drive to Port Tawfik in Suez for a short stop to view the canal. Continuing to Ismailia, you can observe the northbound convoy traffic. In Ismailia, you will visit the Suez Museum and have lunch. The drive from Ismailia to St. Catherine takes approximately six hours.
Upon arrival, you will check into the St. Catherine Guest House to relax, have dinner, and prepare for an early morning climb. Around 2:00 AM, your Bedouin guide will take you from the guest house to climb Mount Sinai, the place where Moses received the Ten Commandments. From the summit, you will see the sunrise over the Sinai Desert.
You will descend the mountain around 7:00 AM and then transfer to St. Catherine’s Monastery for a visit to both the monastery and its museum. The monastery contains several churches, including the main Church of the Transfiguration. Inside, you can see the site of the burning bush, named for the place where the prophet Moses reportedly saw fire and received the Ten Commandments. This monastery is recognized by UNESCO and was dedicated to St. Catherine, an Alexandrian ruler martyred for her faith.
Your private nighttime hike is timed to catch the sunrise from Mount Sinai. Your entrance ticket and a guided tour of the monastery are included. Afterward, you will drive back to Cairo, with an estimated arrival around 3:00 PM.
