Day 1: El Alamein to Siwa – Salt Lakes & Fatnas Sunset
On your first day in Siwa, you’ll have a chance to unwind. After arriving and getting settled at your hotel, we’ll visit the well-known Siwa Salt Lakes. The high salt content in the water makes floating there feel quite unique. Later in the afternoon, we’ll go to Fatnas Island to catch the sunset over the oasis. Following that, you’ll enjoy a special dinner cooked under the sand. If conditions allow, you might also have time to relax in the thermal springs or experience a traditional evening at a local camp.
Day 2: Great Sand Sea 4×4 Desert Safari
On the second day, we venture further into the desert. Enjoy a refreshing swim at Cleopatra’s Spring. Afterward, we’ll travel by 4×4 into the vast Great Sand Sea. Our journey includes a stop at Bir Wahid, where you can discover a secluded desert lake and ancient marine fossils. Experience the thrill of sandboarding down the dunes and witness a breathtaking desert sunset as traditional tea is brewed over a campfire. The adventure continues with dinner under the stars, offering a perfect chance to admire Siwa’s remarkably clear night sky.
Day 3: Ancient Siwa, History & Local Culture
On your final day, immerse yourself in the oasis’s rich history and culture. You’ll have the chance to visit the Temple of the Oracle, Mount Dakrour, the Temple of Umm Ubayda, and the ancient tombs at the Mount of the Dead. Explore a traditional Siwan house and wander through the remnants of Shali Fortress. Later, you’ll have some free time to browse for local crafts and souvenirs.
After three days experiencing Siwa’s natural beauty, desert landscapes, history, and culture, you’ll journey back to your hotel in El Alamein.
