2 Day Trip to Cairo by Plane Overview:

We’ll pick you up from your hotel early and take you to Hurghada Airport for your flight to Cairo (about 1 hour). When you arrive, your Egyptologist guide will meet you outside the terminal to start your two-day tour of Cairo. First, we’re off to Sakkara, roughly 30 km southwest of Cairo.

You’ll see the Step Pyramid of King Zoser, a key early step in pyramid design. Next, we’ll head to Dahshur, around 10 km south, where Pharaoh Snefru built the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. These mark a key transition from step to smooth-sided pyramids. After the visit, you can enjoy a tasty, traditional Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll go to the Giza Plateau, where you can view the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus up close.

We’ll visit the Valley Temple, used for the embalming ceremonies of Pharaoh Chephren, and the Sphinx, the ancient guardian with a lion’s body and human face. After the tours, we’ll take you to your hotel near the Pyramids.

After breakfast and check-out, we’re heading to the Grand Egyptian Museum, Cairo’s amazing new museum. It has the biggest collection of pharaoh stuff, like Tutankhamun’s whole treasure: the gold mask, sarcophagi, throne, and more cool things.

Then, enjoy lunch at a restaurant that looks out over the Nile. Next, we’ll go to the Coptic Quarter to see the Hanging Church (Al-Muʿallaqa), which is built on top of the old Babylon Fortress. Inside, there are beautiful icons of the Nativity, John the Baptist, archangels, and the Twelve Apostles. Lastly, we are stopping at the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, Cairo’s oldest and most interesting market.

We’ll walk down El-Moez Street, which is like an open-air museum with Islamic buildings and shops selling copper, brass, leather, silver, gold, and local crafts.

At the end of day two, we will take you to Cairo Airport for your flight back to Hurghada.
